BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1678 E, ex-Mendel Peterson. S-P37b; KM-26; Cal-711. 20.25 grams. Dark surfaces with patchy corrosion pattern though some details still showing through including a visible date. Rare provenance and, curiously, the photo-certificate shows the coin before horn silver was removed to expose a clear date of 78. Pedigreed to the Mendel Peterson Collection, with Brandenburg tag and copy of ROBCAR photo-certificate. Recovered from: Consolación, sunk in 1681 off Santa Clara Island, Ecuador
