CHILE, Santiago, República de Chile, 1 peso, serial 273108, 14-9-1898 black EMISION FISCAL overprint on a Banco de Santiago 1 peso of 25-2-1896. Pick-51. Overprinted on a Banco de Santiago 1 peso of 25-2-1896 (Pick-51). Rare and interesting overprint on this vertical host note which necessitated the overprinting to be applied at the top with one seal and signature followed by the second seal, date and signature below; the reverse overprint was applied as normal. Overall a difficult type which appears infrequently on the market and the only overprint and host combination for this banco. Circulated note with some small splits in the margins and minor rust spotting, still quite bold in both design and overprint.
