CHILE, Santiago, gold bust 4 escudos, Charles IV, 1799 DA, very rare, PCGS AU50, finest and only example in PCGS census, ex-Godoy. Cal-1569; KM-62; Fr-26. Rich gold color, with only minor flaws and marks and wear on bust, from a reported mintage of just 2,754 pieces and to our knowledge one of only two in the auction record of the past several decades, also the only certified example known to us, another important opportunity for the Chilean specialist. Pedigreed to the Godoy Collection (Aureo auction of March 2004, lot 443).
