MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, 1629/8 D, very rare, NGC VF 30, finest and only example in NGC census. S-M18a; KM-45; Cal-1313. 27.11 grams. Bold full 9 of date clearly punched over another 9 and an 8, full oMD and shield and (off center) cross despite flat and weak areas due to uneven thickness, lightly toned, much heavier style than a decade earlier (NGC calls it 1619/8 in error, but this would still be finest known in the census for 1629/8).
