MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Charles II, assayer not visible, curved urn shape (holed), with Guatemala sun-over-mountains countermark (Type II, 1839) on cross. KM-46; Cal-Type 108. 23.00 grams. Some cross and shield within much peripheral flatness including the entire flared top with hole for "eye" between points (beak and plume), with bold full countermark near bottom (which caused two small edge cracks there) and light old graffiti (probably Indonesian or Malaysian, most likely applied before the countermark) to left on cross side, VG with toning in crevices, inexplicably underweight. With collector tag M-S3-05 ("Montezuma Quail").
