^Lot 479 Medium-sized bronze cannonball, 12 lb, ex-Capitana (1654).

Medium-sized bronze cannonball, 12 lb, ex-Capitana (1654). 4" in diameter. Just like a regular cannonball but made out of bronze (reportedly to counteract the fact that iron cannonballs rusted away before they could be used) and rare as such, the surface a very dark brown with tinges of green here and there, minor pitting, and an interesting 2"-deep gash on side plus a small flat area about 1" long. From the Capitana (1654).
