Lot 184 SPAIN, Madrid, cob 4 reales, Philip III, 1621 (V), rare, Grade 3.
SPAIN, Madrid, cob 4 reales, Philip III, 1621 (V), rare, Grade 3. Cal-740; KM-unl. 5.83 grams. Despite moderate to heavy corrosion, this coin shows a bold MD-monogram mintmark to left of full shield below full crown, the full cross weak but with fairly clear 21 of date at top, lightly toned with a few minor dark streaks. Note: The tag and certificate say "Santa Fe de Bogotá" in error, albeit not such a bad guess considering the dies for the first coins of Bogotá came from Madrid. With original Fisher tag and photo-certificate 1683. Recovered from: Santa Margarita, sunk in 1622 west of Key West, Florida
