DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, Santo Domingo, lot of seven copper 4 maravedís, Charles-Joanna, assayers F or oF (where visible), three with countermarks (one key and two anchors). S-SD1. 20.50 grams total. Excellent group for studying several different types of this copper small denomination which circulated about the Caribbean in the 1500s and 1600s. All with some design elements showing and several with bold countermarks, most with some copper red color from cleaning.
