CRUSADER STATES, Maona of Chios, gold ducat (imitation Venetian zecchino), in name of Andrea Dandolo (1343-54), no date (ca. 1347-1566), NGC MS 65. Fr-2A (imitation of Fr-1221, Montenegro-93). Doge Andrea Dandolo kneeling before St. Mark, standing right, holding book of Gospels in his left hand and presenting banner inscribed DVX / Christ, nimbate, standing facing in mandorla with nine stars, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. High-grade imitation of a Venetian zecchino, with beautiful luster and crisp, clear details.
