GUATEMALA, Guatemala City, gold bust 1 escudo, Charles IV, 1801 M, very rare, NGC AU 50 (Richard Stuart Collection Label). JP-unl (cf 1E37); Cal-1080; KM-55; Fr-21. Choice luster for the assigned grade, with frosty details (almost prooflike), but with light hairlines on obverse, clearly not an overdate (unlisted in JP, which only shows 1801/797), the last of a three-year type (1794, 1797, and 1801), desirable pedigree. Pedigreed to the Richard Stuart Collection and the Stack's Bowers auction of August 2017 (lot 21016).
