COLOMBIA, Bogotá, cob 8 reales, 1668 PoRS, denomination to left, rare, NGC AU 53, finest known in NGC census. Restrepo-M62.4; S-B7a; Cal-750; KM-12. 27.26 grams. Choice full pillars-and-waves with full PoRS (• below o) to left and 1668 date to right, off-center full shield with bold and complete crown above, faint hint of •VIII• to left and series of dots to right, several letters of king's name visible in legend, richly toned all over, with light adjustment or scuff near top of left pillar but notably non-salvage (particularly rare and quite desirable thus, as most known examples are from the Piedmont shipwreck), sold in UBS in 1998 for 14,500 Swiss francs.
