INDIA (British), Madras Presidency, Arkot mint, 1 rupee, dated AH 1172 (1758/59), regnal year 6 (frozen, Alamgir II), struck in 1807, open lotus mintmark. KM-415. 10.77 grams. Similar to the 2 rupees (see previous lot) but half the size, hence possibly struck over a Spanish colonial 4 reales, with bold full XF details despite moderate surface corrosion, light toning. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Fame, sunk in 1822 off South Africa
