UNITED STATES, Massachusetts Bay Colony, "oak tree" shilling, 1652, Noe-13, IN at bottom, straight leg A in ENGLAND, rare, PCGS F details / saltwater damage / Feversham, ex-Hoare. 53.4 grains. Desirable type from this popular wreck that illustrates the variety of coins circulating throughout the colonies in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Though the oak tree itself is weak, the legends and beading are quite bold on both sides along with a clear 1652 date and denomination XII, dull gray surfaces with mild surface corrosion, in fact one of the better examples from this wreck, with solid pedigree. Pedigreed to the Jeffrey Hoare auction of February 1993 (lot 454). Recovered from: Feversham, sunk in 1711 off Nova Scotia, Canada
