COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1648, assayer not visible (R) to right, mintmark NR to left, rare, NGC MS 62 / Maravillas (Shipwreck Blue Label), finest and only example in NGC census. RAMOS-2; Restrepo-M50.25; S-B21; KM-4.1; Fr-2. 6.78 grams. Choice full cross with bold and clear 48 of date, also choice full shield with bold (N)R to left above king's ordinal IIII (assayer to right not visible but known from die-match with other examples like the next lot), lovely surfaces in rich gold color but with parts of edge slightly crude (as made) due to uneven thickness.
