MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales "biscuit," probably Charles II, assayer not visible, thickly oxidized and encrusted (as found). 32.64 grams total. Very hefty (over 32 grams!) biscuit with thick dark and rusty encrustation, distinctive hook shape visible from the cob trapped within, scarce provenance. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Het Huis te Kraaiestein, sunk in 1698 off South Africa
