MEXICO, Mexico City, gold cob 8 escudos, Charles II, assayer L, plain cross (1695-99), ex-1715 Fleet, mounted cross-side out in 18K gold pendant with swivel bail. 29.84 grams total. Cross and shield softly struck on a rather teardrop-shaped planchet with minimal detail elsewhere, the high-karat gold wire bezel molded around the coin such that no prongs are necessary, petite and lightweight bail at top. From the 1715 Fleet.
