SPAIN, Seville, gold cob 1 escudo, Charles II, assayer M, assayer to right of "Maria type" shield (early 1690s), very rare. Cal-847; KM-224; Fr-230. 3.36 grams. Small flan with excellent full cross, off-center simple shield with full and bold assayer M (reading vertically) to right inside king's name CAROL(VS) that curiously shows a monogram AR (as opposed to separate letters), AU with dark gray encrustation in crevices.
