Lot 2127 GREAT BRITAIN, iron copy of Goetz's Lusitania propaganda medal, 1915, with date as 5 May 1915.

GREAT BRITAIN, iron copy of Goetz's Lusitania propaganda medal, 1915, with date as 5 May 1915. Obverse: Lusitania sinking on one side under a legend that translates as "No Contraband Goods!" and error date 5 MAY 1915 below; Reverse: Death (a skeleton) selling tickets to passengers at the Cunard box office with "Business Above All" (translated) at top; Edge: plain. This British-made iron copy of the infamous Goetz medal was sold to the public to promote a propaganda viewpoint that the sinking of the Lusitania by Germany was pre-planned due to the erroneous date of sinking as May 5th versus its actual day of sinking on May 7th. Bold Mint State medal with great patina.
