MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer D, PCGS VG8. S-M18a; KM-45; Cal-Type 319. 26.7 grams. Better than the grade suggests (about VF in our opinion) as being weakly struck yet with a bold mintmark and assayer, partial shield and cross, rich gray-toned surfaces, mislabeled as Philip III by PCGS.
