Interesting example from the first year of Republic coinage as clearly struck over an 1818-dated bust 2 reales. The collector speculates this may have been among the first new coins struck under the new government as a presentation piece to Simón Bolívar during his time in Peru in 1825. XF with pair of small solder-spots on edge, deeply toned gunmetal gray surfaces. Pedigreed to the Amon Carter Collection and to the John O'Brien Collection, with his tag.
