Popular type commemorating the capture of tons of Spanish Peruvian silver and gold on the French ships Louis Erasmus and Marquis d'Antin in the North Atlantic by English Captains Morecock and Talbot on their privateer ships Duke and Prince Frederick (not, as commonly told, related to Commodore Anson's successes in the Pacific). Bright obverse from past cleaning yet with an untouched reverse draped in pleasing red and purple toning, well struck design elements throughout.
