COLOMBIA, 4 reales-sized proclamation medal, Charles IV (bust of Charles III), 1789, Cartagena de Indias, PCGS VF details / tooled, ex-Becerra. Restrepo-p. 121; Herrera-126; Medina-138. 33 mm. Obverse with armored bust of Charles III [sic] within legend CAROL.IV.D.G. HISP.ET IND.R. with Maltese cross at bottom (same die as Bogota issues); reverse with crowned cross supported by lions within legend PROCLAMATUS * CARTAG * IND * with date *1789* below monogram for engraver J.M. Carpintero in exergue; plain edge. Bold bust and legends, disruption along top edge from mount removal, some surface hairlines, light golden toned around the details on the reverse. Pedigreed to the Becerra Collection (stated on label).
