BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 4 reales, 1760 V/q-Y/q-V/q, unique, ex-Mastalir. S-P57; KM-unl (44 for type); Cal-unl (Type 71). 14.02 grams. Bold full date between full pillars with fairly clear V/q at top right and Y/q at bottom left, also with most of V/q to right of nearly full cross with well-detailed lions and castles (for the period), typically chunky flan with steeply sloping sides, deeply toned VF, first example of this complicated but logical over-assayer combination we have ever seen, attributable to Charles III (likely punched over Ferdinand VI) according to Janson in his 1985 monograph in Cuadernos de Numismática y Ciencias Históricas, but without any part of king's name or ordinal visible. Pedigreed to the Roberto Mastalir Collection, with his tag.
