SPAIN, Toledo, gold cob 2 escudos, Philip II, assayer C below mintmark oT and above error denomination I to left, date to right not visible (1590-97), rare, NGC AU 53, finest and only example in NGC census. Cal-unl (Type 270); Fr-170. 6.73 grams. Full but partially flat cross and shield with full and clear C-I to left (the oT mintmark at top a little indistinct due to doubling), flat to right where date should appear, traces of red toning in tressure around cross (which is slightly off-center), currently the only example at NGC for ones without visible date (rare denomination error not mentioned).
