Lot 435 BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, (1650) (O), with crowned-L countermark on cross, NGC XF details / sea
BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, (1650) (O), with crowned-L countermark on cross, NGC XF details / sea salvaged, c/s AU strong (Shipwreck Blue Label). S-P35; KM-19b; Cal-1488. 21.26 grams. Broad flan with full shield and cross, the former corroded but the latter just weakly struck, still with bold 5 of date in legend (confirmed as 1650 because of old-style castles and lions combined with new-style shield) and near-complete countermark on left side, next to a deep edge-crack, toned all over. Recovered from: Maravillas, sunk in 1656 off Grand Bahama Island
