Mexico City, Mexico, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Late Series," assayer G to left, mintmark M to right (G-M), motto as PLV-SoVL-TR, NGC AU 55. Nesmith-46c type; Cal-128; S-M5; KM-18. 13.63 grams. Gunmetal gray-toned, struck on an oversized flan, beautifully centered with full legends and details, unusual ending of banner between pillars showing TR instead of TRA, probably from the "Golden Fleece wreck" (ca. 1550). Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection of Mexican Charles-Joanna Coinage (stated on label). Accompanied by original tag or holder.
