Great Britain, small copper alloy Admiral Vernon medal, 1739, Vernon / Porto Bello, rare, ex-Adams. AC-PBv50YY; Betts-175. 5.80 grams, 26 mm. Crusty XF+ with traces of original color (almost all on reverse). Adams: "This variety is like none other.… It is a pity that there are not more examples to be found." XRF: 41.52% copper, 50.31% zinc, 5.74% lead. Pedigreed to the John Adams Collection (with his handwritten tag), acquired from Christopher Eimer in October 2010.
